Princes Pan

Not gonna lie...tooootally love this outfit. In some medieval fantasy life I was wearing a beautiful gown to a boring party. I snuck out, ditched the skirts and ran away to Neverland.
I don't know what else I'm going to wear this coverup with but I hope to wear it often! It was such an awesome thrift store find that I couldn't resist, brand new and only ten dollars! The beading is just so beautiful, I can't help but feel princess-esque when I wear it.
I've really come to love just how comfy these boots are. They're perfect for this outfit because they're up to the challenge of Princess Pan, fighting Pirates and running through the woods. Random: I love this shirt, but it hits me very strangely across the chest..one of those tie in the back stringy things..so I cut it off the stringy thing and tied it on as a bracelet. This was about 2 years ago. I never really think about the shirt when I see the bracelet, which is obviously daily since it's tied on but when I wear the shirt I'm strangely conscious of the two together. Also, I feel like a bow & arrow are missing from this picture.

I Wore: Stripes - I Felt: Spunky

I dressed up as a zebra for Halloween so to create a mane I french braided my hair and then pinned in black ribbons up and down the braid. I actually really loved the effect and have been wearing the ribbon tied bobby pins quite often...I think they add a little extra spunk to the spunkiness of this outfit!
I know this isn't exactly a ground breaking outfit but I love this sweater which is perfect for layering, and I'm still in love with these Target pants. I think I need more of them..in an assortment of colors! I'm so pleased that my boots fit over these pants! I have some seriously large calves which have definitely caused problems for boots and layering before.
I need to remember to wear long necklaces with scarves, otherwise I end up playing the peek-a-boo game with my necklace like here. But this scarf is just so big and warm I can't help but wear it all day!

In other news, I have news! Or I will in the very near future. Some semi-exciting things are coming up soon...and I don't just mean the holidays! Stay tuned!

Milkmaid Dress

I learned that the new backyard is ever so slightly sloped, so I'm always leaning slightly upward. Target had a bunch of really amazing summer dresses this season and I had my eye on a few. By the time they went on sale, this was one of the only styles left and while I like it, I don't know that I love it. I love the upper portion, grey lace and eye hooks with the sweet floral pattern but I really dislike the band of hot pink around the bottom and the 'segments' of the dress. What is that all about?! Why not just make the dress, why break it into three sections and add that weird pink stripe? I don't know but what I did discover is that the strange segmenty things are super swishy! Perfect for twirling!

For some reason I have dubbed this dress, the Milkmaid Dress. Not even sure why. My hair has gone beyond in terms of fading, I just haven't had time to re-do it so hopefully I'll find the time soon. Almost all the blue is gone and just kinda looks like sickly chlorinated hair or something. Maybe it will turn green and then I'll have a new color! I keep dreaming of chopping it short and dying all my hair but then I remember how nice it actually is having it down in the winter for some extra warmth!
Speaking of warmth, these boots are sure keeping me warm! I should look into waterproofing them so I can wear them on rainy days as well.

The Walk That Lead to the Library

On this particular afternoon we went for a little stroll through fall and finally went down to our local library branch to get some library cards! Yea, I get excited about library cards. Cooler weather is definitely here, sharp on your nose and crisp in your lungs. I broke down and thrifted a couple fall/winter pieces since I really do need some warmer clothes! Welcome to the gang, new-to-me sweater!
I've been looking for THE pair of boots for years now, literally YEARS. Still with no luck. I want to 'invest' (aka spend more than I've ever spent of shoes) on a good pair of boots, but if I do that, they have to meet all of my criteria. Plus, I have a hard time shopping for shoes since my size is odd and usually goes out of stock right away - especially with boots. Long ago I gave up the dream of my perfect boots although I still go on searching, but these boots are probably the closest I've come! Even though they are pretty cheaply made and definitely wont last as long as a good pair of boots they were literally cheap - about 25 bucks!
I bought this sweater mostly because big wool sweaters are not something I have a lot of (any of?) and wanted to try them out. I really like the baggy sweater type layering but never felt like it suited my body shape. I've never been super comfortable in sweaters but since I've been working on body acceptance I was ready to try them out, and you really can't beat the warmth from a big wool sweater.

One of my best girlfriends gave me this empty pendant, I don't know the proper term - shadowbox?! It opens and the contents can be changed! I found this mini feather on the beach by my old house so that's what's currently inside mine, inside hers you'll usually find lichen! I wanted to wear it but found out I did not have a chain that would fit around the bulk of the sweater...so...I craft-macgyvered it and used my wrap bracelet! Feelin' pretty clever on this one kids!
I had no idea what to do with my hair but I wanted to do something with it...apparently this is that something. After walking back from the library with armfuls of books I realized that with my glasses, sweater and braids I somehow, without even planning it, channeled a "library" outfit. Can't wait to dig into some books, what have you been reading lately?!
